Feedback sent to a friend on his birthday
as always, this is somewhat applicable to myself; particularly re: the feedback loops, shrewdness, and shipping.
to be clear, they asked for feedback for his birthday; the below was my present.
happy birthday!
positive feedback:
- you’re curious, and i find that admirable
- you’re actually trying to understand the world, and it shows
- you’re always forgiving, and it makes it a lot easier to do things w you :)
- i feel like i’m fairly frequently getting some notification of some small fun thing [person]’s doing — [censored], [censored], etc. that’s very nice!
negative feedback:
biggest:
- my guess is that the path toward your improving most is spending less time on bullshit you don’t intrinsically bask in, and more time basking in the shit that makes your heart sing. to the extent that you don’t have as much of a sense of bask-i-ness, consider spending more time/effort developing one.
- i think you could be a lot more sharp/shrewd/meta-smart. comes with the above, hard to describe.
- consider, broadly, tightening your feedback loops to be way, WAY quicker — & build the meta-skill of noticing feedback loops that can be tightened, then tightening them
- relatedly: ship. ship more. more frequently, more in quantity, just get stuff out the goddamn door. i want to see completed projects, actually happening. they can be shit, they can be broken, they just need to be (1) better than the last time you tried it, and (2) shipped.
